Every two weeks we organize a group meeting for LGBTQI asylum seekers and status holders in Arnhem. As a volunteer you help create a safe atmosphere.

Job description

What will you contribute?

You are present every two weeks during a group meeting for LGBTQI+ asylum seekers and status holders in Arnhem. As a volunteer you help create a safe atmosphere, in which the participants can meet and get information on important themes. You build a personal bond with them. You do this together with fellow volunteers and employees. If you yourself have a refugee background, we especially invite you to respond.

What are you going to do?

  • You organize and supervise group meetings for LGBTQI + asylum seekers and status holders in Arnhem.

  • The meetings take place every other week, on Monday evening, Tuesday evening or Wednesday evening (we will determine the day of the week later).

  • The location is in Arnhem.

  • You create a warm and safe atmosphere during meetings.

Job requirements

Who are you?

  • You have experience with the obstacles that LGBTQI + people encounter in society.

  • You are available every two weeks on a fixed evening. The evening is not yet fixed; current options are Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday.

  • In addition, you also have time for team meetings.

  • The intention to be available for at least a year.

  • Willingness to participate in training courses of VluchtelingenWerk Nederland.

  • Affinity with refugees and asylum seekers.

  • Good social and communication skills.

  • The ability to identify personal problems and deal with them confidentially. 

  • You speak Dutch at B1 level or English. (English is enough)

  • It is an advantage if you also speak Arabic, Somali, Tigrinya, Farsi, Dari, French or Spanish.
